CRG HOMECARE’S DIANNE UNDERWOOD NOMINATED AS CARE INNOVATOR OF THE YEAR

CRG Homecare’s Director of Quality and Care, Dianne Underwood, has been nominated for the Care Innovator of the Year award at the North West’s Great British Care Awards, which celebrates excellence across the care sector.

The award recognises individuals who have shown exceptional entrepreneurial skills in identifying, developing and establishing innovative new services, systems or products that benefit staff, service users and the overall business. Dianne was nominated for the award after launching an internal initiative, ‘The Matters’, which she introduced to improve and streamline the quality of care across CRG Homecare, a leading homecare provider.

As part of the initiative, Dianne has set up five different working groups under The Quality Matters Strategy – Quality Matters, People Matters, Recruitment Matters, Safety Matters and Medication Matters. Headed up by a Regional Director, each working group is made up of colleagues from various branches who have different roles, so that each group has a wide perspective across multiple aspects of the business.

The groups meet quarterly to discuss and review policies and procedures, share best practices, and discuss ways to improve CRG Homecare’s services. As part of the initiative, regular communications are shared with care staff and service users to keep them updated on any changes, and workshops are run with regional managers to introduce new ideas from the working groups.

Since ‘The Quality Matters Strategy was launched, CRG Homecare’s CQC ratings have improved– the highest rating the business has seen.

Dianne said: “I am thrilled to have been nominated for Care Innovator of the Year – I feel humbled that my colleagues have put me forward for the award. We launched the initiative to increase the awareness within the business as we are aspiring to be the employer of choice. CRG Homecare is striving to improve our services. Seeing the increase in ‘good’ ratings since The Quality Matters Strategy was launched, it really reminded me why I was so passionate about implementing it in the first place.”

“As the business consists of so many branches and different teams, I saw the opportunity to bring them together to share their unique insights and find new ways to improve. Our service users are our number one priority, so it’s great to know that the initiative has had such a positive impact on the overall quality of care.”

The North West ceremony will be taking place at The Midland Hotel, Manchester, on 26 October.
