This International Recruiters Day, I just wanted to say a few words of thanks to all of those who have worked tirelessly over what has been a challenging 12 months for the recruitment sector.
I want to start, by thanking my incredible health and social care recruitment teams, across the HCRG portfolio. From the locum AHP, Doctors, HSS, Mental Health, Nursing, Social Care and Clerical recruitment teams who rallied together to provide essential workers to the NHS and Private Hospitals throughout the pandemic; to our permanent recruitment team who, faced with closed borders and no travel zones, still managed to ensure that we could place essential international healthcare workers directly onto the NHS frontline.
Thank you too, to the absolutely fantastic health and social care workforce whose efforts I can’t even put in to words. Your selfless determination to care for the health of a nation, our friends, families and loved ones is nothing short of heroic.
I am immensely proud of all those working in the recruitment sector. Of course, those working in health and social care have continued to connect essential staff to the NHS and other health and care organisations – but too, those who are introducing new opportunities to a fantastic collective of individuals, who through no fault of their own have lost jobs and careers due of the pandemic.
The UK recruitment sector contributed £42.3bn to the economy in 2019*, and whilst the pandemic is predicted to have reduced this by circa 20% in 2020, this is still a phenomenal achievement. Put into perspective, in 2019, the arts, entertainment and recreation sectors contributed £30.7bn.
I have no doubt that the recruitment sector will play an essential role in helping the UK recover over the next few months and years, and I’m excited for everyone involved.
